The Interview - Erica Jones

Question and answer

What’s your favorite book that you’ve written, and why?

Gosh, that’s a hard decision. I honestly can’t pick one. I believe my 2 books that I have published this far is so great for different reasonings. “Beautifully Blended” is geared towards kids and it sends a positive message and gives kids the chance to be seen  and feel heard about a topic that’s not always so easy. And “The Goal Is In You” is truly what the title means. It’s an adult/young adult book that talks about positive reinforcement, goal obtaining, life thoughts. I feel my books are very relatable and that’s why I can’t just pick one.

Question and answer

How do you handle writer’s block?

When I am having a hard time creating. I just stop. I notice if you force the creativity it comes out on natural unfinished and it doesn’t make sense. You will go back and delete the previous work you done. So I just stop. And when I have it in me again I start it back up. Writing cannot be rushed.

Question and answer

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Stop doubting yourself. Just because bad things happen to you doesn’t mean you deserved it. Always be yourself because people love you for you!

Question and answer

What’s next on your writing journey?

I am actually almost done with my third book. It’s a murder mystery and I am so excited for when it releases. It brings a different writing style to my portfolio.

Question and answer

How do you deal with self-doubt as a writer?

I have learned that becoming a writer your style of writing may not be for everyone, and that’s okay. You have to focus on the ones that gravitate towards you and the positive feedback you do get.
