John Moore – Children’s Author
John Moore is a UK-based retired engineer who spent many years writing procedures and work instructions for Quality Management Systems.

With a lifelong passion for storytelling, it seemed a natural progression to turn to creative writing after his retirement.

The inspiration for his children’s book series, The Magical Stories of Wiz Island, came during the COVID shutdown period when his daughter was working on a creative project. What began as short story ideas soon blossomed into a full-fledged book and eventually grew into a planned 10-book series.

The first major milestone in John’s journey was crafting a story that not only captured children’s imaginations but also had a purpose: education. Branded as a "Read’n’Learn" experience, the Wiz Wizards books weave hidden educational elements into their magical narratives.

Designed for children aged 6–12 years—but also suitable for adults with learning difficulties—the series is both entertaining and enriching.

Set on the enchanting Magical Wiz Island, the stories centre around the island's failing ecosystem and the adventures of its magical inhabitants. Each book explores a unique colour theme and features educational tools such as end-of-chapter summarising poems, a glossary of highlighted keywords, crosswords, fun facts, and engaging projects. Full-colour, realistic illustrations bring the characters and their journeys to life, making the reading experience even more immersive.

Currently, John has published The Green Wiz Wizards and The Red Wiz Wizards. Work is underway on the third installment, The Blue Wiz Wizards, which will introduce a new set of characters and adventures. The series builds toward its climactic tenth book, which will answer the question, "Will it all end well for Wiz Island?”

Beyond the books, John has exciting plans for activity books, soft and hard toys, collector cards, pins, and other merchandise to expand the Wiz Wizards universe.
