What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself through writing?I am inspired by Dr. Suess. I never though that I would be able to put a good rhyme in a story. I surprised myself by authoring an all rhyme Children's picture book.

What initially sparked your passion for writing and adventure, and how did you know you wanted to become an author?“From the moment I was born, I felt like I had something to prove. My mother even called me a mistake, and that weighed heavily on my heart for years. As a child, I found an escape in books—stories where characters turned adversity into triumph. Through those pages, I realized I had the power to rewrite my own narrative. That’s what first inspired me to pick up a pen: the idea that words could transform my deepest hurt into something beautiful and empowering.”

What’s your favorite book that you’ve written, and why?My favourite book is the one I have just finished, "Cocaine Skies" because it was about a wonderful part of my life, living and working in Colombia. It brought back so many wonderful memories of my adventures, my friends and how I met the love of my life. I am so glad I have the stories written and out there for posterity. It was a pleasure to write, I think I had a smile on my face the whole time. I was also quite surprised at how quickly I wrote this one.

What inspired you to start writing?I have wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember. I started writing stories as soon as I learned how to write. Looking back, I think it was because I wanted to be able to communicate clearly, as I was not very good with words. Learning to be a great writer was my way of giving myself 'the power of the word.' I learned to write clearly so that other people could understand me.

What do you want your legacy as an author to be?I want to be remembered as a teacher who continued to inspire and educate in fun, interactive ways long after my career in education. Through my books, I hope to continue to make learning enjoyable and accessible for children, leaving a lasting impact on them and the adults who read with them.

What inspired you to start writing? When I was young, a youth confined to a youth correctional facility. I did not know I was able to write until some of the black and white kids came over to see what kind of things I was writing to my loved ones at home, especially to my girlfriends. They asked me to write letters for them, to send to their girlfriends, a tradeoff, I would write "love letters" for them, and they would repay in cigarettes. Their approval in feedback from their loved ones sealed my faith. The rest is history.
